"I built this practice because everyone deserves expert therapy — not just those who can afford London rates or already speak the language of the system."
Anh Doan is a qualified Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with over 15 years of specialist experience. She founded Talking Counselling in 2011 and continues to lead its clinical direction — supervising all trainee therapists and working directly with clients in both English and Vietnamese.
15 years making therapy accessible to all
Anh Doan founded Talking Counselling in 2011 after recognising a fundamental injustice in mental health services: that the people who needed help most — those from minority ethnic communities, those who didn't speak English as a first language, those who couldn't afford private London rates — were consistently the least likely to receive it.
She had trained as a psychotherapist with a specialism in complex trauma, and quickly built a reputation for her work in the City of London financial district, alongside working with survivors of human trafficking, modern slavery — many of whom she could support in their first language, Vietnamese, removing a barrier that few other therapists could.
What began as a one-person practice has grown into a team of 13 therapists offering sessions in 8 languages — but the founding principle has never changed. Expert therapy, no waiting list, no referral required, for everyone.
Today, Anh continues to work directly with clients, supervise all trainee therapists at the practice, and lead its clinical direction. She is one of an extremely small number of psychotherapists in the UK offering therapy in both English and Vietnamese.

A therapy that is warm, evidence-based, and culturally aware
Anh's clinical foundation is in complex trauma. Sessions are paced carefully and safety is always the starting point.

She draws on psychodynamic, humanistic, and behavioural traditions, choosing the approach that fits the client.
The therapy belongs to you. Anh's role is to support, not direct — the work is always done together.
